The annual Rømø Motor Festival was not what I expected.I was expecting a smallish, back-door beach race with maybe a couple hundred participants. Instead, there were in excess of 20,000, some said maybe as many as 30,000 people there for what is essentially a one-day affair although many visitors make a week of it.

Back to Rømø Motor Festival, or "RMF." 2017 marked only its second year of running, but it is already becoming a hugely popular date in the calendar for vintage racers, as evidenced by the crowds of people who'd come to compete and spectate. To me it is right up there with Pismo Beach's Race of Gentlemen in the US, and the VHRA.

Das Römö Motor Festival 2023 findet am 18.-20.08.2023 statt (Samstag 19.08. Renntag am Lakolk Strand!) Vor gut 100 Jahren fand am 23.08.1919 das erste Motorsport-Rennen des Danish Automobile Clubs (damals am Strand von Fanö) statt und erlangte 1921 seinen internationalen Durchbruch.

Rømø Motor Festival is organized and conducted in accordance to the international rules and regulation for racing. The one-day race licenses is issued by the Danish representative for FIA and the insurance related to the race license is also in compliance with FIA regulation. In Denmark it is DMU ( Dansk Motorsports Union) who is representing.
