The resort town of Velden am Wörthersee has been around since at least the 12th century, with many old documents mentioning the resort town. In 1545, a noble family had acquired the lands of Landskron and Velden, and had a giant mansion built on the land. Later, the castle was acquired by the House of Dietrichstein.
