I had an '89 Riviera with the same screen, back in the mid '90s. I had two screen failures in five years of ownership. In both cases the gun went wonky and caused wavy displays. So in my experience, the dashboard of a car is not a location that is likely to lead to long-term reliability of a green screen CRT.

I mailed to screen to him first class, he rebuilt it and I had the screen back at my house latter that week. The screen works great now.
